Karolyn’s Notes March 29, 2024
You have some interesting starts here. I wonder what your exploration here will be. Choosing any of these could be the beginning of an interesting exploration. Reflecting on these moments, discussing them with Kendra, your classmates and me would help you in your decisions around what to focus on, what questions you are interested in furthering. In part, because I am not sure what your pedagogical intention is here (See your commitment section) I am not sure where the connections are. For example your statement is currently about observing ECEs you are working with to find alternative conflict management strategies. How do these explorations connect to that? If you chose your previous intention, how would they connect? Collaborating and storytelling as children engage in imaginary play is one way children are in community together. “Play is an avenue to these vibrant engagements that is the basis of all learning” (BC ELF, 2019, p. 75). As children build and experience their community life together how can we start to pay attention to the ways we build and experience community life with other worlds? The worlds of spiders perhaps as your second moment introduces. More reflection, and connection are needed here.
